Grosse Pointe’s Greatest
Block Party is a late-summer
community celebration that
features food and
refreshments, music, art, a
pooch parade, children’s
activities and fun for the
entire family! This great
event takes the time-honored
tradition of the
neighborhood block party and
brings it right into the
heart of Downtown Grosse
Pointe! The Block Party
covers two entire blocks of
Kercheval Avenue from St.
Clair to Cadieux in The
Village, Downtown Grosse
Pointe. Times are Saturday
from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00
p.m. and Sunday from 12:00
noon to 5:00 p.m. Several
events take place over the
two-day period including: |

A Taste of Grosse Pointe,
Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to
8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00
noon to 5:00 p.m. featuring
menu specialties from many
popular area restaurants.
•
Saturday Night Dance Party,
7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.,
featuring live music and
dancing under the stars to
Detroit's favorite party
band, the Sun Messengers.
Good music, good company,
good times. An unbeatable
combination!

Art on the Block, Saturday
from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
and Sunday, from 12:00 noon
to 5:00 p.m. A juried art
fair that features fine art
and hand made craftwork.
• Kids on the Block,
Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. and Sunday, from
12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. A
giant slide, balloon artist,
bounce house, a Pooch
Parade, lego games, face
painting, street art and
much more for the
youngsters!

Block Party stage, Saturday

Village merchants will host
trunk shows, special
promotions, demonstrations
and a Treasure Hunt at

will automatically be
entered into a grand prize

Stores welcome
thousands of costumed children
ages 12 and under
from area elementary schools.
Friends of the Grosse Pointe
Public Library will be on
hand to pass out free books
for trick or treaters.
A very spooky event! Trick or
Treating is from 3:30 p.m. to

presents the Grosse Pointe
Santa Claus Parade. |

The 35th Grosse Pointe Santa
Claus Parade is one the most
highly anticipated events of
the year in Grosse Pointe
and this years’ edition will
not disappoint! Featured
will be marching bands from
Harper Woods High School;
Anchor Bay High School;
Warren Woods Tower; the
Detroit School of Arts;
Ecorse Community High
School; Highland Park High
School and the Grosse
Pointe North and
South pep bands. Also
featured will be the
Eastside Fury drum line, the
hilarious antics of the
Detroit Fire Department
Clowns, the Redford Unicycle
Club plus dozens of parade
units and community groups
from around the tri-county
area. Santa Claus will make
his appearance again this
year on the beautiful Grosse
Pointe Santa Claus Float
that features soaring
reindeer and picturesque
scenes from around the
Grosse Pointes.
The Parade starts at the
corner of Lewiston and
Kercheval and proceeds west
on Kercheval Ave. through
The Hill shopping district
in Grosse Pointe Farms and
The Village shopping
district in the City of
Grosse Pointe.
Also on Parade Day, November
27th :
9:00 a.m. The
Grosse Pointe Lions Club
presents the 12th annual
Happy Holidays Jingle
Bell Walk / Run
4:30 p.m. The
Pointe Singers Select
Choir, presented by The
Treasure Trove, will
appear in concert at the
corner of Kercheval and
St. Clair in The
Village.
5:00 p.m. The
Village Aglow Tree
Lighting Ceremony. Mayor
Dale Scrace will welcome
those in attendance and
light the exquisitely
decorated Village
Christmas tree. A
holiday sing-along with
the Pointe Singers
Select Choir immediately
follows the
tree-lighting. Members
of the Grosse Pointe
Boat Club will serve
complimentary hot
chocolate. After the
tree-lighting, enjoy
dinner at one of the
many great restaurants
in The Village, Downtown
Grosse Pointe – all
within a short walking
distance.
The 34th Grosse
Pointe Santa Claus Parade is
produced by the Grosse
Pointe Village Association
in cooperation with the Hill
Association.
